Being an individual and a past Vice Chairman of the Gazaria Upazila Janakallyan Samity,Engg.Abdul Quayum khan in long 25 years arranged for free treatment of 18035 distressed eye patient of Gazaria and arranged for free Cataract operation of 1843 eye patient of Gazaria who are able to see this beautiful world only due to his such contribution for which Gazaria Samity is proud to award Gazaria Padak to this noble ,sincere,devoted and committed person.Let Allah Subhanahutala bless him.

Engr. Abdul Quayum Khan (A.Q.Khan) was born on June 30,1949 at Baluakandi. He is the 3^rd son of his father Dr. Abdus Sattar Khan who was a renown physician in whole of Gazaria Thana since late thirties. He had his early education in the village primary School and passed S.S.C. examination from Hossaindi High School in 1964 in 1^st Division with star in Mathematics. He passed H.S.C. examination from Dhaka College in 1966 in 1^stDivision. Then he got admitted into East Pakistan University of Engineering & Technology,Dhaka (Now BUET) and graduated in Electrical Engineering in 1970 and obtain 1^st class.

In his early professional life Engg.A.Q.Khan served the government of Bangladesh as Asstt. Engineer in PWD upto September 1973. He then left for Yugoslavia for higher studies under a scholarship offered by the govt. of Yugoslavia. He did M.S. from theUniversity of Ljublijuna, Slovenia in 1975 and worked there in different capacities. He returned to Bangladesh in March 1981 & joined Prince Corporation Ltd (PCL) as its Director. Prince Corporation works in the Power sector and provides renewal parts, maintenance services, rehabilitation & uprating of General Electric (GE) USA designed gas turbine units in Bangladesh having generation capacity 20MW, 35MW, 70MW,100MW & upto 120MW. In total PCL is taking care of 25 Gas Turbine units having total generation capacity of approximately 1300MW out of Bangladesh’s total generation capacity 6000MW at present. These gas turbine plants belong to Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh Ltd (EGCB) & Rural Power Company Ltd (RPCL). Presently Mr. Khan is working as the Managing Director of Prince Corporation Ltd. Engr. Khan did MBA in 2004.

Engr A.Q.Khan is associated with different social & service organization. He joined Rotary movement in 1983 and was President of prestigious Rotary Club of Ramna in year 1993-94 & was District Secretary of Rotary District 3280 (Whole of Bangladesh) in the year 1994-95. He received  “Citation” from the President of Rotary International and “Certificate of Excellence” from Rotary District Governor for his outstanding service to the community & humanity. Mr. A.Q.Khan is the Member of the Executive Committee of Ò‡ivMx Kj¨vb mwgwZÓ ofBIRDEM Hospital which is being headed by the Director General of the hospital herself. Engr. A.Q.Khan was the Vice President of Gazaria Thana Janakallyan Samity for 3 consecutive term from 1987 to 2000 AD & now been elevated to the post of Advisor of the Samity.  Gazaria Upazila Janakallyan Samity declared him “Man of the year” in 1992 for his excellent contribution towards fostering the object of the Samity. He is associated with the Samity’s work in different field. Most important is   organizing the Eye-camp at Bhaberchar & Baluakandi every year for last 25 years since 1987. He was the Vice Chairman of Bhabercher Girls High School during its inception period. He is a widely travelled man & visited many countries covering Asia, Europe, Australia & USA. Engr. Khan is life fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.

Engr A.Q.Khan is happily married with Dr. Shirin Akhter and they have two daughters. The younger one Gulrukh Nawsheen Khan obtained M.B.B.S. degree from BangladeshMedical College in 2012 under Dhaka University and at present is working as Internee doctor in the same college.

Engg.A.Q Khan is  by born a generous person.He secretly donates monetary help to several family of his own village and a number of religious institution gets regular contribution from him.No distressed person ever left him without help .He also gives his Zakat amount for the purpose of elimination of poverty through a fun known as 'DABIZA FUND' regulated by his Lordship Mr.Justice AFM Abdur Rahman,a first cousin of him and the current Chairman of the Samity.. For few years he and his wife Dr.Shirin Akhter conducted a Charitable clinic at Baluakandi where hundreds of distressed patient got free treatment and Medicine.On his instance Gazaria Samity get inspired to establish a Eye Hospital at Anarpura,Bhaberchar.
